Patrick Newman

Patrick Newman, who serves as the Business Development Director for Africa. Patrick holds an MA from Oxford and a Diploma in Law from City University. With over 25 years of extensive experience across the emerging markets of Africa and Central Asia, he specialises in sectors including mining, food security, and energy, with a particular focus on renewables.

Throughout his career, Patrick has successfully negotiated various licences and agreements. Notably, in the Republic of Sudan, the UK company in which he was a shareholder received an award as a good corporate citizen from the Ministry of Mining. He has also concluded significant agreements in Kenya, Ghana, and Côte d’Ivoire – including a collaboration with Africa Rice, an organisation representing 28 African governments. Moreover, Patrick has been involved in business development in Nigeria, where he spearheaded UK technology deployment for carbon-neutral, solar-powered water desalination as part of water security solutions.

In Central Asia, Patrick has a strong track record in Uzbekistan, further demonstrating his extensive regional expertise.
